The town\u2019s history was built around its ch\u00e2teau, now a private residence.<\/p>\n<h2>CH\u00c2TEAU D\u2019APREMONT<\/h2>\n<p>The Ch\u00e2teau d\u2019Apremont was created in 1534 by Philippe Chabot de Brion, a friend of Fran\u00e7ois I and Admiral of France. It was dismantled, stone by stone, in 1733. Nowadays, all that is left of the ch\u00e2teau is its ramparts, towers and a vaulted passageway for knights that is the only one of its kind in France.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/chateau-apremont-vendee.jpg\" alt=\"chateau apremont vendee\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What you can see of its mediaeval period is the entrance castellum with its remnants of the old drawbridge, the defensive walls and towers, and western curtain wall. As concerns the Renaissance period, you can visit the eastern and western towers, during guided tours only. You can also visit the chapel and see its exhibition on Philippe Chabot de Brion, the ch\u00e2teau\u2019s creator, as wells as the vaulted knights\u2019 passageway.<\/p>\n<h2>APREMONT LAKE<\/h2>\n<p>In Apremont, you can also explore the lake and its leisure area, where you can participate in many family-friendly activities.<\/p>\n<p>The lake is monitored by lifeguards during the summer holidays, and the beach is partially shaded. Various games are at your disposal to keep your kids occupied.
